1. John Fitzpatrick lived and owned land adjoining the Staunton river on the south side (1782- 1801) before and during the time that Patrick Henry lived and owned land (1792-1799) on the north side, therefore, they must have know each other for they were neighbors.

2. In September 1789 at New London, Campbell Co., the famous beef case of Hook vs. Venable took place. This is the famous beef case of Patrick Henry. The juror who wrote the verdict was John Patrick. It is likely this is John Fitzpatrick because he wrote his name as John F. Patrick in many cases. I checked the files in Campbell Co and found no other John Patrick. Also John F Patrick still owned a Plantation in Campbell Co. that his son William was managing.

3.The surveyor that marked the new line for Pittsylvania Co from Halifax was John Donelson in 1767. On his survey map he marks the only Plantation  (Luck's). The line went through this property. The Fitzpatrick bought this property. The reason this is interesting is that John Donelson was the father of Rachel Jackson who was the wife of Andrew Jackson the 7th President (1829-1837)

4. Did John Fitzpatrick know the father and/or grandfather of Sam Clemens (Mark Twain)? The Clements home place is 3 miles east of Gladys not far from Fitzpatrick Plantation at that time.

5. How close we came. If Robert E. Lee had not surrendered, he was planning to cross the Pannill Bridge in retreat. He had also sent a message to Green Hill Plantation (across the river from us) that he would eat dinner with the owners. Maybe the war would have reached here and everything destroyed.

6. Did the Fitzpatrick family feed any of the Rebel troops on their way home? The main road went through the middle of this property.

7. One of Sarah B.M. Pannill Fitzpatrick's grandsons married one of Patrick Henry's granddaughters. So now there is linage to Patrick Henry.

8. Did John Fitzpatrick know Light Horse Harry Lee (father of Robert E. Lee)? Mr. Lee owned Long Island before 1792, the same time as John Fitzpatrick lived and owned the land adjoining?

9. Sarah B.M. Pannill Fitzpatrick son in law had dinner with Thomas Jefferson. Did his wife attend?
